The reality is they don’t care about teachers. Even ones who’ve worked there 5+ years. Loyalty means nothing to them. Expect a high expectations with repeated pay cuts and lack of organization.

No, I decided not to bother, partly because of what I learned here. I am now teaching online. I make less money (and no tuition waiver for my kids), but the reduction in working hours and stress is well worth it. Next summer I will be able to move anywhere in the world I want to instead of basing it on where I happened to find to a good job. For me, that will be Kunming in western China, which is called the city of the eternal spring due to great weather.
