I would like to agree with you, but I can't help shake the feeling that the use of A.I. has also resulted in a fairly shallow post here. What I mean is the person doesn't expand on a lot of the claims they make, such as the staff being problematic or one being a "sycophant". How? And we could have more info on what they consider a "revolving-door" to be (how often are people leaving etc.) and why that might have happened exactly. Also, how far is Chinese educational culture influencing the fact that there's a focus on standardised test preparation?

It reminds me of George Orwell's warning about people being lazy with language resulting in them being lazy in thought. I fear A.I. is going to exacerbate this issue with some of our students too. - Monkffxivturnip

I am also at BASIS Wuhan. I really love it here. I feel very supported by those above me, and the faculty community is a really wonderful group of people. I didn't know anyone before I came in; there was no nepotism in my case. I am involved in hiring, and I am not seeing any indication of nepotism. In fact, unlike other schools I have worked at in China, the HODs and HOS really know their stuff. I feel sad that someone had such a bad experience, but it has not been my experience at all. - Electrical_Hotel_727

I’m genuinely sorry to hear that your experience was so negative. That hasn’t been my experience at all, and I feel it's important to offer a different perspective, especially as someone currently working at BASIS Wuhan and proud to be part of the community.

I’m a person of colour and have never once felt marginalised here. In fact, I’ve found the leadership and wider team to be incredibly supportive and inclusive. Yes, expectations are high, but they’re matched with excellent resources, autonomy in the classroom, and competitive compensation. I’ve always known where I stood, and I appreciate the clarity and structure in place.

The school values results, but in my experience, this goes hand in hand with genuine teaching and learning. Many of our students are thriving not just academically but as creative, independent thinkers, and that’s down to the passion and hard work of the teachers here.

Your frustrations are valid if that’s what you lived through, but for me and several of my colleagues, BASIS Wuhan has been a place of opportunity, growth, and professional respect. I hope others reading this will also seek out a balanced range of views. - Reza1230
