Shanghai American School — non-teaching roles

not really answering the question but i went to SAS and the teachers basically never stayed for more than a few years. i think it's partly because of covid though and not just the school environment. - acnh-koko

My experience as an elementary (1-3rd) and middle school (6-8th grade) student was overall pretty positive. It’s definitely a school that uses all of their resources considering the amount of money you need to send a kid there. Probably (one of) the best international schools in the area. School environment is definitely one of the most competitive I’ve been at, only getting beat out by my HS college prep school I’m at right now.

SAS is an excellent school. No drop in enrollment and probably still a waiting line for ES. Teacher turnover was due to Covid like everywhere. - Warm_Ad_7069

For clarity, you’re referring to local expat hires right?

Never understood the logic behind SAS or other schools differentiating between local and overseas expat hires.

Assuming they have identical qualifications and soft skills, wouldn’t the local hire logically be more competitive as they save the school a lot of money and signal greater hire security/willingness to stay in a foreign environment?
