FAKE CHIVAS?
Can QR codes fight counterfeit booze?
It all began with a LinkedIn post that accused Pernod Ricard of enabling counterfeit products via their QR based security platform, by highlighting exactly how easy it was to buy FAKE CHIVAS.
At GlobalNews we like drinking, so we perked up immediately. Especially after we saw that their brands include Absolut Vodka, Chivas, Malibu & Ballentine’s, among many others.

Pernod Ricard then proceeded with a ‘weak response’ that failed to address the issue. And failed to go after any of the traders that were exposed.

Conclusion:
We’re going to have to give it to LiqourTown. We’re quite convinced that QR codes are NOT a safe way to secure your liquor. So next time you’re in the club, and that bottle of Chivas rolls around, watch out! You could be drinking FAKE BOOZE.
