Let’s BOYCOTT Racist Businesses
Author: Victor
On December 1st of 1955, Rosa Parks made history by refusing to submit to racist practices by simply refusing to give up a seat to a white man on a bus. This sparked outrage across the nation and sparked the beginning of the American Civil Rights Era. One of the most powerful tools the black community of America used to end segregation was boycotts. When the black community established its power to critically impact the bussing system, the system itself caved in to give them the dignity and respect they deserved.

Despite reports from China’s own Luo Zhaohui that 90% of imported cases are from Chinese nationals, the treatment of foreigners in China has been spiraling downward. Reports are coming in from everywhere about foreigners being discriminated against.

Some reports by these companies attempt to shift blame for their actions.

McDonald’s recently had a store sign posted in a Chinese McDonald’s store that was abjectly racist and discriminatory.

You can watch the video here:
Due to public outcry, a statement was then issued by McDonald’s Corporation, Chinese division saying that they would close their Chinese branches for diversity training.

You can read our article here:
As Rosa Parks demonstrated in 1955, a boycott can be an extremely effective motivational tool. Recent events suggest that the threat of a boycott or even bad publicity can be enough. McDonald’s took a leadership role in this instance. They have made a point that the behavior at least in their stores is absolutely unacceptable.

It is my proposal that we ask our international brothers and sisters to boycott all companies associated with racist policies in China. The “powers that be” may vehemently deny racism exists in China, but the corporations will take notice when it hits their bank accounts on a global scale.

In order to effectively enact this boycott, we need to accurately record the names of these companies, the location and time of the event as well as the people involved. We need to make a list and keep it updated. A boycott list of companies to globally boycott for racist practices. Here are a few suggestions for that list:

Tourism in areas that demonstrate racism should also come to a stop. Boycott these areas entirely for their treatment of our African brothers and sisters in this time of need. Let their industry fail until they globally admit their wrong. This nation was poverty-stricken before foreign commerce. Since they don’t appreciate us for bringing prosperity and growth upon our backs, let them wallow back to what it was. Do not return until they have felt the sting of their own behavior. Let them talk about how wonderful living in the streets is. Let’s paint the REAL picture for the international community. What happens to one of us, happens to all of us, no matter where it is.

Use the tools that are before us. Every RMB, every Dollar spent…its a vote for ideals you hold. If you stop supporting companies whose practices you do not support, they will eventually lose their business. Stop voting for Racism. Make a list of companies and places. Stop their “lifeline”.
So send your screenshots, pictures, and videos to ExpatRights at our official account or WeChat: kele781194025. Try to include dates, addresses, and most importantly, company name. The more information about the incident, the better. But as always, remember: We win if we stay cool and rational. Always act with respect, even when being treated otherwise. Do not feed their reason for hate. Do not give them the excuse they’re looking for to justify themselves!
And to McDonald’s, I want to offer my sincere thanks. I’m ordering McD’s tonight.
