We reached out to them for further proof. By 7 pm they emailed us this official statement.
Although the harm cannot be undone, we appreciate this brave move by McDonald’s China to right their wrongs and affirm their promise of preventing similar incidents from occurring.
We forgive you, McDonald’s China. Thank you so much for owning up to your mistake.

This is a victory for all expats. We all chipped in. We all shared. We all contributed to the effort that got McDonald’s China to apologize for racist behavior.
This is a victory for our movement. We’ve faced so much pessimism, negativity and attacks from scared expats who would prefer we go home instead of trying to make a change. Well, here’s proof that change is possible. Don’t forget it.
And it all started because one expat was brave enough to make a video. Remember that next time you are suffering discrimination. I hear a lot of people having trouble with Didi. Perhaps record the car driving away from you?~
Love you guys.
