Step 1 On-board Check

Customs officials will board the aircraft to check the temperature and information of each passenger.

Those with a fever or other suspected coronavirus symptoms will be sent directly to a designated hospital by an ambulance standing by on the tarmac.

Step 2: Epidemiological Investigation

After getting off the aircraft, every passenger must receive an epidemiological investigation.

More than 300 customs professionals with medical science backgrounds will be despatched for investigation near the boarding bridge.

Step 3: Health Declaration

Customs and immigration officials will then check and screen the health declaration card for each passenger. Another temperature check will be conducted at this point.

Customs will need an updated health declaration card, which passengers will need to complete before entering the country.

The new immigration card adds items like occupation, entry or exit port, contact in China, address in the coming two weeks, and countries and regions visited in the past two weeks.

Passengers are also asked to report if two persons or more in their family or workplace have a fever or other symptoms and whether they have taken an antipyretic or cold medicine in the past three days.

You can complete this form on paper or digitally by scanning a QR code in the airport via WeChat, remember, this can be a very time-consuming process.

Step 4: Label Stickers

Officials will stick a red, yellow or green colored label on each traveler’s passport or ID based on the investigation and declaration information.

Passengers with a green label will be allowed to leave the airport freely but will have to do a quarantine at home for 7 ~ 14 days. Specific rules of the quarantine will depend on your location.

Those with red or yellow labels will have to get a quarantine either at home or designated hotels for 14 days according to the regulations from the city government.

Throat swabs or blood samples will be collected from suspected patients who will then be handed over to the local health authorities.

Step 5: Transportation

For those who have arranged private cars as transportation, the name, ID card, contact of the driver, accompanying persons, car plate number and destination must be registered in advance with district officials, who will also accompany passengers to the pickup spot, verify their information and inform communities.

Step 6: Quarantine

When passengers arrive at the residential complexes either by designated buses or private cars, staff from health service centers, neighborhood committees, police, and foreign language translation volunteers will wait for them and make them sign a home quarantine commitment letter.

Travelers from key affected regions and without accommodation in the city will be sent to designated hotels at each district for the 14-day observation.

After finishing temperature checks and information registration, they can enter their rooms for the quarantine period.

Daily necessities will have been prepared in each room, while staff will deliver meals to them three times per day and check their temperature.

Keep in mind, immigration steps at the airport may take a long time (about 3 ~ 8 hours), SO USE THE TOILET BEFORE YOU LAND!
